ABX AIR HOLDS
GRAND OPENING OF NEW ON-SITE PHARMACY OPERATED BY WALGREENS
WILMINGTON, OH - Feb. 18, 2008 - ABX Air
celebrated the grand opening of the new ABX Air Pharmacy, located at
the Air Park at 1271 Airport Road today. On hand for the celebration
were ABX Air employees, including Jeff Walling, Manager of Benefits,
and Joe Hete, President and CEO, as well as community leaders.
“We have been working to bring a pharmacy on
site to better serve our 7,000 Wilmington-based employees and their
families,” said Walling. “It will allow them to see the doctor at
the ABX Air Healthcare Center and then get their prescriptions
filled next door.” |

The pharmacy, operated by Walgreens, is adjacent to the ABX Air Healthcare Center, and offers customized services to ABX Air and DHL employees, their families and retirees. In addition to filling prescriptions prescribed by physicians at the adjacent Healthcare Center, the pharmacy also can fill prescriptions from physicians in the community. Another service is keeping an inventory of over-the-counter products specific to employees’ needs. ABX Air selected Walgreens as the pharmacy provider on the basis of its outstanding reputation in the industry and the services it offers beyond a standard retail pharmacy. Walgreens pharmacists at ABX Air provide patient counseling on issues such as medication adherence and side-effect management, two key factors in optimal healthcare. |

The on-site pharmacy meets a need for employees and helps to manage rising healthcare costs, with features such as a $4 copay for all generic medications on the ABX Air benefit plan. "This makes the pharmacy both convenient and cost effective," said Walling. |

"As with many initiatives that earned ABX Air two consecutive Healthy Ohio Gold Awards, the pharmacy is about wellness," said Hete. "We want to make it easier for our employees and their families to have access to quality and affordable healthcare." ABX Air also has an on-site Healthcare Center, Fitness Center and introduced an On-site Dental Facility for employees and their families. The Healthcare Center provides urgent and wellness care, as well as physical therapy, nutrition counseling and more on site with expanded hours to better meet the needs of the employee schedules. "Opening at 5 a.m. Tuesday through Friday and remaining open until 10 p.m., as well as being open through the day Saturday through Monday offers employees many opportunities to seek care if they need it," added Walling. "We are very excited about our On-Site Dental care, too." Employees and their families can schedule appointments with the unique Dental Center. The unit and the dental care providers actually travel to the Air Park to be available scheduled days each week. The Dental Unit will be on site and available for tours Monday also. |
