Smoking Cessation Classes Offered

11//14/2006

Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006, is the Great American Smokeout. If you are ready to quit smoking, visit the American Cancer Society's Smokeout page for more information about how you can develop a quit plan. In addition, the ABX Air Healthcare Center offers smoking cessation classes. Employees or dependents who want to quit smoking can take advantage of these free classes. Over 120 people have gone through the program so far in 2006 and there is a 70% success rate for those that complete the class.

The next available class time is Tuesday, January 9, 2007, and classes run for the following three Tuesdays (1/16, 1/23, and 1/30). There are two "booster" classes on 2/6 and 2/13 (if needed). Separate classes are offered at 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., or 10:00 p.m. Each session lasts one hour. Participants should attend at the same time each Tuesday. All classes are held in the Wellness Classroom located next to the Healthcare Center.

Participants in the program are eligible to receive free nicotine patches from the Ohio Tobacco Quit Line.  If you are ready to quit, call the Healthcare Center at (937) 283-9289 to sign up for a class. Space is limited and is available on a first come first serve basis.

Take the single most important health step of your life: quit using tobacco today.
