Qualified Medical Child Support Order (QMCSO)

When you divorce, the court will typically order both parents to share in the cost of any medical bills for your dependent children. The court will also typically require both parents to enroll the dependent children in any medical insurance offered by their respective employers. This is called a Qualified Medical Child Support Order (QMCSO). A state child support agency can also issue a QMCSO ordering you to enroll your children in your employer’s health insurance program. The court or state agency cannot order your children to be enrolled in plans for which they are not eligible.

If you do not already have your children enrolled in the ABX Air health insurance program, then you will need to send a copy of the court order or the child support agency order to the ABX Benefit Department. Once the order is received in the Benefits Dept, the Employee Self Service form  will be opened for you to enroll your children.  

Your eligible dependent children will be enrolled in the plans on the effective date of the order. You will be responsible for the employee’s share of the cost including any back payments.
