Group Universal Life Insurance
If you currently have the Group Universal Life Insurance, you may continue this coverage by setting up a direct billing with the third party administrator, Marsh@Work. Call 1-800-447-9381 to set up a direct billing.
Company Paid Life Insurance
A full-time employee’s company paid life insurance with the Hartford ends on the last day of the month when employment ends. (Part-time employee do not have company paid life insurance.) If you are part of a reduction in force, your company paid life insurance still ends on the last day of the month when employment ends.
You may convert your company paid group term life insurance to a individual whole life policy with the Hartford. Your conversion letter will be mailed with your COBRA package to your home address. You must send the conversion form to the Hartford within 31 days of the date your coverage ends. Because the coverage is a whole life policy, the cost is significantly higher than the group term rates paid by the company.
