Overview
Every year, we all step up to the
challenge of giving to worthwhile charities who make a real impact in
the lives of our families, friends, and neighbors by completing a Pledge Form
[88kb PDF] and returning it to Payroll.
This year's theme
was "A Dollar Makes A Difference!"
Thank you for your participation in the Fall Charity Drive!
This year's drive was a great success. We exceeded our goal by raising a
corporate-wide total of
$48,066.65 in
contributions and pledges. This represents a 42 percent increase over last
year's pledges.
Overall employee participation was up as well, with 335 employees
returning pledge forms (up 60 percent over last year) and countless others
participating in the various raffles and events.
The pledge
form makes it easy to give, and you can participate year-round. Simply fill in the blanks at the bottom,
check the box for how much you want to give, whether you want to give
one time or spread out over the year, and which charities you’d like
to support. For your convenience, current payroll deductions will
carry over unless you elect to change them.
Remember, any donation—no matter how small—for those
less fortunate is appreciated and demonstrates your generosity and
caring. A dollar makes a difference!
About the
Charities
Below is some information about the
organizations you can support in the Fall Charity Drive. You can donate to
your favorite, or split your pledge among them however you like!
-
The United Way of Clinton County
helps fund numerous service agencies that improve the quality of life
for many of our neighbors, family members, and friends. More than 99
percent of the money donated to the organization benefits programs in
Clinton County. For more information and a full list of the many
organizations supported, visit
unitedway-clinton.org.
-
Funds routed through the American Cancer
Society helps to fund programs of cancer research and education,
along with services for cancer patients. One out of nine women will
develop breast cancer by the age of 85. The lives of ninety percent of
these women can be saved with early detection. Colo-rectal cancer is the
more frequent form of intestinal cancer in both men and women. Exams can
detect many pre-cancerous conditions. Find out more at
cancer.org.
-
The mission of the American Heart
Association is to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular
diseases and stroke. That single purpose drives all they do. The need
for their work is beyond question. Heart disease and stroke kill more
Americans each year than the next seven leading causes of death
combined. Stroke is the leading cause of permanent disability. Virtually
every major advance in cardiovascular or stroke medicine in the
twentieth century was supported or fully funded by the American Heart
Association. Find out more at
americanheart.org.
-
Clinton County food pantries, which
are the Clinton County Community Action Food Pantry on Nelson Avenue and Sugartree Ministries on East Main Street, work hard to help local
residents avoid food emergencies year-round. For more details on these
organizations, visit
clintoncap.org and
sugartree.org.
