Premium Pay Policy

Overview

ABX recognizes the need to additionally reward our people who are skilled in specialized areas. This is done by means of premium pay, typically on an hourly basis.

Core Requirements

Hourly and non-exempt employees who are required to have certain special skills are eligible to receive additional premium pay. When these employees move to a position that does not require the skills, they no longer will receive it.

Typically, premium pay is paid for all hours worked in an employee’s regular position. However, premiums may be paid on an ad-hoc basis to an employee who is filling in for an employee who is absent.

Employee Responsibility

bulletEmployees are responsible for providing evidence of any required training or certifications to the company.
bulletEmployees must perform recurrent training, where required, in order to retain their premium pay.
bulletThis policy applies to hourly and non-exempt, non-bargaining unit employees.

Leadership Responsibility

bulletPremiums will be regularly reviewed as part of the annual pay plan.
bulletManagers and supervisors are responsible for ensuring that premiums are recorded correctly in the ATS system.
