Overview ABX Air recognizes the need to provide
additional compensation to employees who work in special circumstances. This is
done by means of additional pay, typically on an hourly basis.
Core Requirements
- Hourly and non-exempt employees who are required to have special skills or
schedules are eligible to receive additional premium pay. When these employees
move to a position that does not require the skills or schedule, they no
longer receive the premium pay.
- Typically, premium pay is paid for all hours worked in an employee’s
regular position. However, premiums may be paid on an ad-hoc basis to an
employee who is filling in for an employee who is absent.
Types of Premiums
Shift Differential
- ABX Air pays shift differential to hourly and non-exempt employees who
work second or third shift.
- In order to keep their pay whole while they are on vacation, holiday,
funeral leave, incentive day, jury duty, etc., shift differential is paid.
Shift differential is not paid when an employee uses a sick day.
- Second Shift: The majority of hours in one job are regularly worked
between 4 p.m. and midnight.
- Third Shift: The majority of hours in one job regularly are worked between
midnight and 8 a.m.

differential, they no longer receive it.

plan.

specifically require an FAA/FCC license.
