Shift Differential Policy

Overview

ABX Air supports and maintains a 24 hours, 7 day a week operation. For the issues that an “off shift” may cause employees and their families, hourly and non-exempt employees who are working on second or third shift receive a premium for their hours worked.

Core Requirements

bulletABX pays shift differential to hourly and non-exempt employees who work second or third shift.
bulletIn order to keep their pay whole while they are on vacation, holiday, funeral leave, incentive day, jury duty, etc., shift differential is paid. Shift differential is not paid when an employee uses a sick day.
bulletWhen an employee moves to a schedule that is not eligible for shift differential, they no longer will receive it.
bulletThis policy applies to all hourly and non-exempt, non-bargaining-unit employees.
bulletShift differential is included for Overtime calculation.
bulletThe Shift Differential is reviewed regularly as part of the annual pay plan.

Definitions

bulletSecond Shift: The majority of hours in one job are regularly worked between 4 p.m. and midnight.
bulletThird Shift: The majority of hours in one job regularly are worked between midnight and 8 a.m.
