ON-SITE EVENTS
The staff of the Transition Center, Fidelity Investments, Right Management, and the State of Ohio offer a variety of workshops in Building 2 in Wilmington (ILN). Classroom assignments are subject to change; refer to the posted classroom schedules on the date of your class for confirmation.

To sign up for a class, contact the Air Park Transition center at (937) 366-2665. All classes are provided free of charge to participants as part of the Air Park Transition Center services.
  • Transition Center Orientation - 3 hours
    The orientation will provide an introduction to the Air Park Transition Center and its resources along with an overview of State-provided services including unemployment benefits. The session also features an opportunity to work through the process of building your confidence in working through this change in your life by increasing your understanding of the change process. You must complete the online job skills survey prior to attending orientation. This class must be completed before any other class is available to you. [return to calendar]

  • Computer Study Lab
    Time is provided for you to practice your computer skills. A lab assistant is available for individualized guidance. [return to calendar]

  • Excel Advanced - 4 hours
    This class shows you how to use the advanced features of Microsoft Excel. [return to calendar]

  • Excel Basic - 4 hours
    This class gives you a basic understanding of spreadsheets and how to set one up in Microsoft Excel. [return to calendar]

  • Interviewing Skills - 3 hours
    Participants in this session will learn how to prepare for interviews with practical information and tips for making a great impression. [return to calendar]

  • Introduction to Computers
    This class serves as an introduction to PCs and how to get started using them. [return to calendar]

  • Job Search / Networking - 2-3 hours
    This session covers how to use online and print research tools, as well as ways to develop and work with contacts and networking lists. Participants will identify new and creative ways of approaching traditional job search methods such as ads, recruiters, and Internet job boards. [return to calendar]

  • Job Skills Assessment - 3 hours
    This session helps participants identify their interests, skills, personal style, and key accomplishments to help describe their ideal work and environment. [return to calendar]

  • Living on Less - 4 hours
    This class presents strategies for managing your budget, saving money, etc. [return to calendar]

  • PowerPoint - 4 hours
    This class covers the basics of creating and showing presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint. [return to calendar]

  • Résumé Support - 3 hours
    This session serves as an introduction to résumé writing techniques including Internet-based résumés. Professional support is provided. [return to calendar]

  • Résumé Writing Development - 3 1/2 hours
    This session provides an opportunity to review your work experience, evaluate your skills, and develop the most effective résumé to market your experience to potential employers. [return to calendar]

  • Résumé Writing Editing - 3 1/2 hours
    This class provides an opportunity to edit your résumé with professional support. Résumé Writing Development must be completed prior to attending this class. [return to calendar]

  • Résumé Writing General - 3 hours
    This is an introduction to résumé writing techniques, including electronic résumés. Professional support is provided. [return to calendar]

  • Retirement Options (please attend the session designed for your company) - 1 hour
    This workshop is designed to help participants decide what to do with their retirement assets. Spouses are welcome to attend. [return to calendar]

  • Word Advanced - 4 hours
    This class shows you how to outline and organize documents automatically, work with tables and formulae, set up columns, add and manipulate graphics, and add finishing touches such as tables of contents. [return to calendar]

  • Word Basic - 4 hours
    This introductory class covers typing and editing text; editing, proofing, previewing and printing a document; formatting characters and paragraphs; working with lists and tabs; and adding finishing touches such as headers and footers. [return to calendar]

  • BPI Group Services

    ABC 6 is "On Your Side" with a Job Fair, and a Boot Camp preparing people to get that new job. How to create a resume, craft an eye-catching cover letter, develop interviewing skills, how to network and organize a job search, how to change careers, and how to use a staffing service are all topics that we will be discussing in the boot camp sessions.     Registration Line: Viewers will be directed into two lines at the ABC 6 "On Your Side" Job Boot Camp. One line will be for viewers that wish to attend the Boot Camp sessions and the second line will be for viewers interested in just talking with featured employers. There will be signs displayed outside of Vets as well as ABC 6 staff their to direct you into the proper line.

    Job Boot Camp: Experts will walk you through each of the sessions so you will have the advantage in getting your next job. Companies will be on hand with open positions and will be interviewing on the spot. This is a difficult economy and job market, but ABC 6 "On Your Side" is here to walk with you on your journey to success.

    Admission to the Job Fair/ Boot Camp is free, as is parking. The 950 adjacent, on-site spaces provide ample off-street parking in a well lighted lot. Entrance to the exhibition halls and auditorium are just a few short steps away. All parking is free day of the event.
