Jury & Witness Policy

Jury & Witness Policy

Overview

ABX Air wants to support employees as they meet their occasional responsibilities as good citizens.

Core Requirements

  • Employees who serve on jury duty or are subpoenaed as witnesses in trials will have their regular pay continued while their presence is required in court. Jurors are compensated by the court, and the amount of this compensation will be subtracted from their ABX pay for the days they served.
  • This policy applies to all full-time and part-time non-bargaining unit employees.

Employee Responsibility

  • Employees should notify their supervisors as much in advance as possible if they are going to be required as a juror or witness in court.
  • Employees on jury duty must provide their supervisor with a court document stating the days they served and the rate they were paid by the court.
  • Employees who serve as a witness must provide a copy of the subpoena to receive their ABX pay.

Leadership Responsibility

  • Managers will forward the appropriate court paperwork to Payroll.
  • Notify Human Resources of situations that are expected to last for five days or more.
  • Use the jury duty pay code, along with the employee’s normal scheduled hours for any time the employee is on jury duty or called as a witness.

Exception

Court actions which the employee initiated, is responsible for, or is a defendant in are not covered by this policy.
