 Benefits NEWS 

Due to the August 15, 2003, merger between DHL Worldwide Express and Airborne Express and spin off of ABX Air into an independent company, the Benefits Re-engineering project has been placed on hold until further notice.

 

Employee Survey

 

Employees were asked to participate in benefits survey from December 26, 2002, through January 13, 2003. The survey was sent to 6,373 employees and  2,538 surveys were returned (40%). In addition, approximately half had additional written comments. These written comments totaled 194 typed pages and have been read by the ABX executive staff including President & CEO Joe Hete. 

  

Separate surveys were sent to ILN employees and to out-base employees with some questions focused on specific issues for each locations. However the majority of questions were the same for both employee groups.

 A Benefits Xtra

 

A special newsletter that is being distributed to employees every month with paychecks. Written by the ABX benefits staff, this newsletter is designed to keep employees informed of the Benefits re-engineering process and to provide health and consumer information for employees about health care.

Townhall Meetings 

Townhall meetings were held for employees in Wilmington during the weeks of January 27 and February 3, 2003. Townhall meetings for regional hub employees were scheduled by the hub managers. In addition an online Townhall meeting was held for out-base employees not located at a regional hub. In the survey and at the Townhall meetings a number of common themes were identified.

Benefits Advisory Team

An Benefits Advisory Team is assisting the Benefits Department in the reengineering process. This group consist of 25 employees from all parts of the Company. The group meets from time-to-time to provide feedback to the Benefits Department and also to provide suggestions and ideas. In addition, the Team has divided into to sub-groups, one focused on Lost Time issues and the other on Health Care issues.
